Good Eats Outside of Denver Colorado

Restaurants

Leaf: A fancy schmancy Vegetarian Restaurant

This restaurant was decorated beautifully and the food was exceptional. It is on the pricier end but totally worth it. Their menu is imaginative and focused on healthy foods with maximum flavors. Dishes such as Korean Veggie BBQ and Jackfruit Enchiladas are their star but I am pretty sure you can order anything from their menu and come out a happy customer.

Mountainbuzz Cafe: A very memorable hole in the wall

This cafe is where the locals go- and do not be fooled by their humble exterior. The menu is simple but each item on their menu packs a very hefty flavor punch. They use delightful unexpected combos of microgreens and tasty cheeses in their grab and go panini/sandwich. Don’t sleep on their brewed coffee, they are lovely and I am pretty sure the chefs own the place so that each dish is made with TLC.

Scrumptious Candy Shop: A Microcreamery

Full disclosure, we tried going to the popular “Little Man Ice Cream” in Denver but seeing the line made me take out my phone and check yelp for another spot. I am so glad I did! We found Scrumptious which is a darling ice cream shop and candy store all in one! What is a Micro-Creamery you ask? Each ice cream sold in-store is made in-store. They rotate their 100 flavors frequently which covers all-time favorites like cake batter but also includes the peculiar like Wasabi. The Staff in the Arvada location specifically were sweet, patient, and super friendly.

Trout for Breakfast anyone?

Notchtop: The Breakfast Spot

This is another local favorite (which I judge from the waiting area btw if you were wondering). As you walk in, you are greeted with the most charming display of baked goods, dominated by oozy, decadent cinnamon rolls. However, we wanted to be good and focused on getting a nice hearty meal instead. Low and behold, we spot “Trout and Eggs” which I have never seen before at any diner spot. Just when I thought the Trout was enough of a reason to visit Colorado, I took a bite of the perfectly buttered Rye Marble Bread! Ahh absolutely heavenly. I would absolutely travel back to eat here again and when I do I will be sitting in the bar area so that I too can feel like a local.

No, I did not win and yes, we have not played chess since…

The Frothy Cup Cafe: The Picture-Perfect Coffee Shop

I would not be surprised if this cafe has been used as a location for a Hallmark movie. It is absolutely darling with perfect tables outfitted with games and fresh flowers. Plus, their worldwide coffee selection and teas are not too shabby either! Whether you spend a few minutes grabbing a quick drink or an entire afternoon, the overwhelming cuteness is undeniable. Try their ‘Rise and Shine’ Muffin for a lovely pick me up.
